Be alone. Unless I was still happy with someone I "settled" for. But I wouldn't want to think my whole life, "This isn't what I want."

I'd rather grow old with the person I "settled" for. I'd like to think that after all those years she would still be my best friend.

I would have to say I'd rather be alone then to settle. But, thankfully I didn't have to do either because I'm married to the most wonderful man!

Be alone. I don't want to be alone but I would much rather be alone than live my life with someone I just "settled" for. I know I could never be happy accepting less than what I deserve.

I think this is a false dichotomy. I don't think you have to be alone because you don't find true love. Older people can be just as desirable and fun as younger people, especially to older people. I often hear the young talk about older people as though they don't have much to offer, but when they get to be older, they're going to be surprised.

If you look at your partner, ANY partner as someone you just "settled" for rather than chose, you have unrealistic ideas of what "true" love is actually like.

As long as the relationship wasn't abusive or emotionally draining, I think I'd rather have someone there with me when I grew old than be alone.

I'd rather be alone. If you settle for someone, you don't love them.

Alone because living with someone you don't love creates lots of misery.
