Mostly. But I think that always trying to be kind is better policy. Sometimes blunt honesty can hurt somebodies feeling, such as "Your food is bland" vs "Could you pass the salt and pepper?"

In terms of a relationship, yes. In terms of living in the world, mostly yes...but there are definitely exceptions (it's really hard to reverse a bad haircut, so why make it worse?).
