Ashton was shattered by the fact that he destroyed his own childhood hero's masculinity by banging his old lady. Long live Bruce Willis.

The age difference only matters because he hasn't had all the experiences she has had because she is older. While no one should ever cheat and no one forced him to marry her... They should have really thought about the true issues with such an age difference.
