I enjoy both! Debates are good but there's a difference between debating and arguing. When debating turns into arguing, I prefer to keep the peace. Conflict in general is not good.
I love deep discussions. If the parties have different view points so much the better. There are important rules to follow though so it doesn't cause bad feelings. I have a huge amount of respect for those that can sincerely listen to the other side's thoughts and leave open the possibility that they might be right. That keeps the discussion a quest for truth instead of two people trying to "win".
