I used to belive somethig useful but i have come to learn that nothing beats a surprise or a fun gift!!
I love useful things. My favorite gifts this year were kitchen items I live my crock pot and Dutch oven! Surprises are great also. Especially no reason flowers. They just make me light up.
A surprisingly useful gift!! If its useful and you don't know you're going to receive it, perfect!

A big surprise. Something that says, I know you, I love you, and I was just thinking about you.
Something that had thought put into it somthing that made you think of the other person
Something from the heart.
Something useful, as I get older i just want more useful things to have when I actually have free time to use them.
Something useful, with a well thought out choice in aesthetics.
Being thought of is what is important for me. Big or small doesn't matter as long as it is done from the heart, with love.

Surprises are key. But it has to be something they've expressed previous desire for. You have to pay attention to what they want and plan your gift.
