Friends for sure its not s relationship if your not friends underneath the rest of it. But to make it a true romantic relationship I need to be lovers as well but thst does not necessarily mean other couples aren't real without sex.
Friends. Nothing long term is going to come out of the relationship if you both are only in it for sex or for the physicallity of it all. You should still be able to be each others best friends and joke around and have days without all the lovey dovey shit just hanging you know?
Both are necessary for sure, but one more important than the other, I'd say lovers. Even two people who always disagree about something, religion or politics or whatever, can be a solid couple just on passion as long as they agree on each other
