Yes, because I'd rather have honesty than live a lie. If he cheated, it would mean he wasn't happy with the relationship. Why be with someone you don't love right?

No. Sometimes ignorance is bliss. When a partner who cheats tells their partner, many times it is done to make themselves feel better and admonish their own feelings of guilt. It's not always fair to put that burden onto someone else who was innocent in the matter.
