It depends on the situation, but mostly shades of gray. There can be a right and wrong answer, but most often, each situation has to be taken on its own merits.

The one-dimensional line of white-grey-black is often not sufficient to describe the world. The same event will, from different perspectives, have "different shades of grey", so why not put different colors for the different perspectives? It gives a more messy picture, but in full color!
